SARAH AMANDA MAPLES
FINE ART
About
S.A. Maples, is an American, self-taught artist, who was born in Birmingham, Alabama to a family brimming with writers, poets, musicians, cooks, and visual artists. S.A.’s family encouraged her creativity as a child, and found that she was gifted in drawing and replicating the masters. Her second grade teacher often sent her class artwork home with notes attached relaying her astonishment at S.A. having created such masterful artworks at such a young age. Her unique talent continued to grow into adulthood.
2010 brought the opening of S.A.’s interior design business, where she began creating one-of-a-kind pieces of original art for her clients. Art soon took on a life of its' own and there began her journey into the professional art world. S.A. is an Abstract artist and describes her abstract work as “studies of movement”, and prefers working in neutral tones to layer work. S.A. has been a self-employed, full-time artist, since 2013.
She has since become a widely-collected, international artist, showing her work across the world. Her art was highlighted at the Art Shopping exhibition at Le Carrousel du Louvre, in Paris, France, in October of 2017. Her work has been featured on many art and design blogs, and included in numerous magazines such as Birmingham Home Magazine, Southern Spaces Magazine, Southern Style Magazine and Good Grit Magazine. S.A. was featured in the coffee table book, "City Farmhouse Style: Designs for a Modern Country Life", by Kim Leggett.
S.A. Maples lives in Birmingham, Alabama with her dog, Wrigs. Her studio is currently at MAKEbhm in Avondale, Alabama.
